Will more companies be using mobile apps in our Post-Coronavirus world?

The total number of people connected to mobile devices today is three times higher than it was only a few months ago. Now, with offices, institutions, public places and transport shut down, people have started using mobile applications to connect with people, products, services, and food. They use mobile applications to shop, to order pizza, to communicate with the government, banks and employees. Today as shops are closing down, people have flocked online and to digitally transformed businesses with mobile applications to get their home and business needs fulfilled.

There are over 280 million active smartphone users in the USA today. Over 70 percent of people looking for your business are using their smart phone. Ask yourself this, if my business had a mobile application to accept orders, manage employees or communicate with vendors and distributors would we save time, save money and increase sales? For many businesses the answer may be yes. Does that mean every plumber and hair salon needs a mobile application?

The answer is different for each individual business, however if cost was not prohibitive (building and maintaining a mobile application is expensive, but then again so is building a store or warehouse to do business in.) then maybe the answer would be more unanimous.

We get asked every day by businesses what it will cost to develop a mobile application for their company. It used to be that only very large businesses utilized mobile applications for their customers and employees. Today businesses of all different sizes are seeing their potential customers using their phones to find product info, book trips, plan meetings, look up pricing, search product features, find local news, messaging businesses and more. Customers today are more likely to choose a business that is mobile friendly, has a mobile application or provides mobile app-based services.

“Those companies able to use technology well to keep going and rethink their business model for the future by fast-tracking digital transformation will be ones ahead of their competition.” – Forbes.com

Now is a great time to plan for growth and reach these potential customers. Mobile apps are used every day to improve the experience of the existing customer base. How many people do you know that use Amazon to get products delivered or take an UBER? Think of what that digital transformation could do to your business.

Sure it’s true not every business needs its own mobile application, I know that (even though I would love to say yes they do). But more and more we are seeing companies of all sizes come to us asking: “How can I have a mobile app for my flower business.” or “How can we get a mobile app developed for our trucking business?” We talk to hair salons, shipping companies, parts distributors, healthcare businesses every month about mobile application and portal development. Not every company is ready or a great fit, but with some ingenuity many can be digitally transformed to meet the new post-coronavirus world and come out ahead.

If you think your business could benefit from a mobile application, I would love to hear from you. There is nothing I like better than learning about new businesses and discussing the development of mobile applications and software portals to digitally transform their world for the better.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Until next time,

Connor Taylor
